The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (as amended) and ADR Ch 1.8 1.8.3.1 requires all companies involved in the consigning, carriage, packing, loading, filling or unloading of Dangerous Goods by road, rail or inland waterways to appoint a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser. A DGSA must hold a Vocational Certificate issued by DfT. This certificate can only be gained by passing examinations set by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and is valid for 5 years LRT Ltd offers courses for all modules.

The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) is required to be followed by all British vessels anywhere in the world and all foreign vessels in UK waters.
